Multiple Teams · “A” Team Tournament

On Saturday, Sept 23rd, the 7th Grade Lady Lion “A” team competed in a tournament at Lehman High School. They began the morning with a 2 set match against AJB of Seguin. The team split the match, with AJB taking set one 25-22, and Lockhart taking set 2 with a score of 25-18. Morgan Masur led the team with 6 serves and 2 kills. The team had no rest, as they played back to back, taking on Mountain Valley. The Lady Lions dominated the match with scores of 25-6, and 25-14. Katelyn Espinoza led the team serving, as she had 9 consecutive points during the match. Alyana Green had a strong game setting, and contributed 6 serves to help the team stay ahead. The team then took on Simon Middle school with a chance to advance to the Championship game. The girls took care of business, as they won both sets by scores of 25-18, and 25-17. Amryss Flores led the back row with 3 digs, and Camryn Fondren had 2 solid tips at the net. Lockhart advanced to the Championship match, taking on Barnes Middle school. The Lady Lions started fast, taking the 1st set by a 25-18 score. Masur had a strong serving game, and Espinoza play well at the net. Barnes would come back, taking set 2 with a 25-21 score. In the decisive 3rd set, Lockhart had an early lead, but Barnes bounced back to win with a 15-11 score. The team earned 2nd place medals, and a lot of valuable playing time. They will be off this week, but will return to action on Oct. 5 when they travel to Del Valle.
