The Lions earned a hard fought 1-0 victory over Leander High School to finish the Georgetown Governor’s Cup Tournament undefeated with two wins and one draw. Edder Guerrero scored the winning goal midway through the first half, and the Lions defense held on against Leander’s pressure for the shutout. After scoring the winning goal, Guerrero also shared goal tending duties in the second half with Jovany Gutierrez.
With the win, the Lockhart Lions proved to be the King of the Lions by defeating the Brownwood Lions in the second round, and the Leander Lions in the final round. During the tournament, Lockhart only gave up one goal in their 6-1 win over Brownwood, after earning a 0-0 draw with the Georgetown Eagles in the opening game.
